Vanesa is a kind, hardworking, and hopeful young girl living with her parents in Nakaloke Village, Mbale District, Eastern Uganda. She has a love for learning and believes strongly in the power of education to change lives. Last September, Vanesa’s family faced a life-changing tragedy when her mother was involved in a road accident that left her with a severe open femoral fracture of the right leg. Since then, her mother has been unable to work and requires ongoing care. Vanesa’s father is a peasant farmer whose small and unreliable income is no longer enough to support the family’s growing needs. As a result of these financial hardships, Vanesa missed an entire school term because her parents could not afford school fees, uniforms, or basic learning materials. Being away from school has been painful for her, but it has not taken away her determination or hope. Despite the challenges she faces, Vanesa dreams of becoming a teacher one day so she can educate and inspire children in her community, just as she longs to be inspired herself. By sponsoring Vanesa, you will help her return to school, continue her education, and regain hope for a brighter future.
